You experience a day as a university student

Since yesterday they have been trying to live like university students. “A compass for the future” is the event that the Iuss university school is organizing at Broletto until Thursday. The free residential initiative is aimed at fourth year high school students and offers a varied program of lessons, seminars and workshops with the aim of stimulating intellectual curiosity and providing a preview of academic life. Yesterday began with greetings from the rector Riccardo Pietrabissa and the vice-rector delegate for incoming orientation Andrea Tiengo.

“This orientation school – explained Tiengo – has the ambition of showing unexpected connections between different disciplines and little-known nuances of some subjects learned at school. It will be able to help them choose their future path more consciously, without being influenced by stereotypes and prejudices”. Today the children will participate in two interdisciplinary discussions: the figure of the English scientist John Michell will be traced, three centuries after his birth, by Roberto Nascimbene, seismic engineer, and the astrophysicist Paolo Esposito; Giulia Piredda and Giulia Mattavelli will talk about emotions from a philosophical and neuropsychological point of view.

Then practical workshops and debates to explore in depth topics such as the integration between virtual reality and electroencephalogram and between mind and language, the importance of taxation in the ecological transition and the frontiers of wearable biosensors. Tomorrow is a session open to the public dedicated to the contribution of female scientists to technological development. In the evening, at the Collegio Nuovo, the speech by the astrophysicist Patrizia Caraveo.
