Three people are under investigation, on charges of negligent personal injury, for the workplace accident that occurred a week ago along the Agrigento-Palermo railway line, near the “Minaga” district and the industrial area of the city of Temples. Among those reported was the driver of the railway trolley, a fifty-six year old, who while reversing hit a mini excavator, causing it to overturn.
The other suspects are a 42-year-old and a 41-year-old. The complaints were formalized by the Agrigento Railway Police officers who intervened on site that day and took care of the findings and investigations of what was an accident at work. Two workers were transported to the emergency room of the “San Giovanni di Dio” hospital: a 56-year-old, who was driving the vehicle that overturned and a 53-year-old.
According to the reconstruction of the Agrigento Public Prosecutor’s Office, the mini excavator, engaged in work on the embankment between the Aragona Caldare and Agrigento Bassa stations, was hit by the railway trolley and then overturned. The workers who ended up at the hospital in the “Consolida” district are employees of the contractor that is handling the modernization works on the railway line.
