Almost 800 thousand euros of framework agreement for the maintenance of internal municipal roads between Bitonto and surrounding areasall still to be identified.
The municipal council, upon proposal of the councilor for public works Giuseppe Santoruvo, gave the green light to the measure, as regulated by the legislation for interventions to renovate road surfaces (roadways, sidewalks, rainwater management systems, elements accompanying the road platform). The need arises from the fact that, on the one hand, the sums available in the annuity 2023 and those allocated for the 2024 are necessary for the management of a limited safety campaign and on the other because the “standardized” management of road maintenance through individual interventions – discontinuous and partial – mostly linked to the satisfaction of specific and unpostponable urgencies and contingencies, is now outdated by easier and more flexible legislative instruments, such as to guarantee the continuity and immediacy of interventions, especially in situations of urgency and danger. A framework agreement (it will be put in black and white after the tender, ed.), then, allows the maintenance interventions to be defined in their economic and performance content in terms of types of work and related prices, even though they are not predetermined in number and location and provides for the indication of a maximum time and expense limit upon reaching which the general contract ceases to produce effects.
«After having carried out road works in 24 months for more than one and a half million euros – underlines Santoruvo -, with financial resources drawn from loans, we are not stopping. In the next few weeks it will be the turn of rural roads, for which approval of a framework agreement is expected too.”
