This afternoon (24 June) in the presence of the councilor with responsibility for city security policies, Caterina de Gavardo, of the commander Walter Milocchi and of the deputy commander of the Local Police, Paolo Jerman, of the president of the VI Commission, Salvatore Porro and of some representatives of the company Media Technologies Srl. the press conference was held to present the new website of the Local Police of Trieste,

Since this morning the new website Polizialocaletrieste.it has been online, completely renewed to meet the organisation’s communication needs, in compliance with the latest AgiD directives on digital transition.
The information architecture and learning machine characteristics were identified by the Institutional Information and Open Government Service and technically implemented by the company Media Technologies Srl.
New graphics and layout, new information architecture, all contents and the introduction of the FAQs revised and updated.

The councilor with responsibility for city security policies, Caterina de Gavardo, thanked the various actors who made the creation of the new site possible, among others the Director of the Open Government and Institutional Information Service of the Municipality of Trieste, Vittorio Sgueglia della Marra and the company Media Technologies Srl.

“This is a real review of the Local Police website which aims to improve the communication, which already exists, between the Local Police and citizens”, began Caterina de Gavardo.
“The address of the new website, online since this morning, is www.polizialocaletrieste.it, it is a clear, simple, constantly updated and fast site with a very intuitive layout, with a menu at the top and with a series of main focuses . From the site you can also quickly reach the emergency room of the Operations Room or the FB social channel of the Local Police, Agent Gianna. It is a direct site, because for the first time the topic of frequently asked questions is introduced, around thirty divided into macro topics and it is particularly accessible for two reasons: compared to the previous one it is optimized to automatically adapt to the different devices on which it is displayed (desktop, tablet, smartphone), for fast, efficient and intuitive use. Secondly, a tool dedicated to accessibility was introduced, a button always present during navigation that allows the user to control the font size, contrast, and other tools aimed at readability. The site will be in constant connection with the new site of the Municipality of Trieste and will offer greater space to Civil Protection with the publication of the emergency plan of the Municipality of Trieste and the description of the skills and capabilities of the teams”, said councilor Caterina de Gavardo.
“The site is also interfaced with the institutional social channels of the Local Police and the Authority and represents the first step in a series of innovations that will be introduced by the Local Police and which aim at the experimental use of technologies AI (artificial intelligence) to improve communication with citizens”. concluded councilor de Gavardo.

The commander of the Local Police, Walter Milocchi, underlined the work carried out to respond to the new site models for the PAs suggested by the AgiD.
“The main menu has been optimized and the new information taxonomy has been introduced. Any content present on the site has in fact been tagged according to the new taxonomies by type of content, in order both to facilitate navigation within the site and to create a cataloging of information content based on the theme”.
Walter Milocchi continued by specifying how the FAQs identified will be clear and exhaustive, cataloged by topic (animals, commercial, construction, fines, permits, waste, reports, vehicle) and will allow citizens to always obtain answers, even in critical situations , without having to call or write an email request. The next activities will focus on the implementation of a Virtual Assistant based on AI technology, to increasingly guarantee and enhance the service for citizens”, concluded the commander of the Local Police, Walter Milocchi.

In its institutional information/communication activity, the Municipality of Trieste has already introduced some AI skills which will be developed and optimized over time.
The combined power of human skills supported by artificial intelligence will allow office staff to work more efficiently and effectively. With this support, operators and administrators will be able to manage a greater flow of information in the shortest possible time
In this phase of the project, the operators are training, at flow level, the Virtual Assistant who will contribute to providing information to the citizen in the site development program.
On the home page of the new site, wide visibility is given to the timely information service provided, through informative news on the activities of the force, press releases of a reporting nature and naturally the notices dedicated to communications of changes in traffic conditions, road closures, ordinances and emergencies.
