The intervention envisaged, for the atrium floor, the construction of new floor-to-ceiling windowsa rationalization of incoming and outgoing flows, guaranteeing accessibility to people with reduced mobility with the construction of an elevator to reach the station platforms.

Furthermore, the complete renovation of the ticket office floor existing with the creation of a mezzanine floor served by two new stairs and a lift where the technical service rooms for EAV staff essential to guarantee regular railway operations will be located. The renovation of the floors and coverings was carried out, the introduction of new ad hoc furnishing elements, the elimination of the existing false ceiling in order to bring to light the original reinforced concrete structure which was initially exposed, as well as the complete renovation of the systems electrical, special, mechanical and water.

While waiting for the next lots to be financed, work will begin shortly in Piazza Garibaldi EAV to remove architectural barriers with the installation of stair lifts serving the platforms.

The new Stadler trains are arriving

But it doesn’t end here, because the new trains built by Stadler. The framework agreement provides for 100 trains: 56 already contracted, 44 to be contracted. It is expected to have testing by ANSFISA in 12 months. A demonstration prototype was installed outside the station. The new train will guarantee high standards of safety and comfort, in particular the configuration with metropolitan-type seats will guarantee greater internal space while increasing the number of seats compared to the previous “Metrostar” model currently in operation. USB sockets are provided for charging mobile devices, There will also be a defibrillator in each vehicle and the space for placing luggage has been increased.

The Region bought 61 buses

In the square in front of the Porta Nolana station, 3 of the latest buses received were displayed. EAV, therefore, received from the Campania Region in 2024 new more ecological and sustainable buses which partly integrate and partly to replace the company fleet.

Looking ahead, EAV will receive 35 additional 10-metre methane buses as well as 40 small and medium-sized electric buses over the next year. The average age of the EAV bus fleet has gone from 13 years in 2019 to less than 7 years in 2024 thanks to the arrival of 212 buses in the last 4 years, out of a total of approximately 370 buses in operation.
