Disturbances to railway traffic on the Genoa-Turin line in the late afternoon of Monday 24 June 2024. Traffic is in fact slowed down and delays, changes and cancellations are expected because around 5.30 pm a regional train departing from Genoa towards Piedmont hit a sheep between Frugarolo and Alessandria.

Following the collision, the air duct was damaged and the train was forced to stop, traffic towards Turin was therefore interrupted. At 6.50pm Trenitalia informed that the rescue locomotive and technicians had been sent to resolve the fault and that major delays were expected for intercity and regional trains.

Update at 8.20pm: the transhipment operations of travelers have been completed. Traffic on both tracks on the Turin-Genoa line has now been reactivated.

Update at 8.45pm: traffic returned to normal after the intervention of the technicians and the emergency locomotive. Intercity and regional trains suffered route limitations, cancellations and recorded increased travel times of up to 160 minutes. The IC 519 Torino Porta Nuova train (6.05pm) – Genova Brignole (8.12pm) ends the journey in Alessandria. Passengers can continue with the R 2139 Torino Porta Nuova train (6.30pm) – Genova Brignole (8.44pm).
