TRENT. School’s out, off to work: 2024 will also be a summer of major works, interventions and maintenance in the structures that host Trentino schools. Operations of varied dimensions and impact, those presented today at the end of the Trento municipal council. In some cases it is new constructions (see the Orsetto Pandi nest or the Mattarello medium), but overall the interventions and maintenance have the aim of guaranteeing safety, functionality and quality of city schools. Over 2 million euros have been allocated in 2024 for extraordinary maintenance alone.
Starting from the broader operations, in September will be concluded the new wing of Mattarello’s media: from next September the children will have a completely new school at their disposal, with 9 large glass classrooms on the first floor and, on the ground floor, a music room and a large 255-seat auditorium/hall, equipped with a telescopic grandstand and suitable for public performances. The ground floor, open onto the park, will therefore not be reserved for the school, but will be a space for the whole community. Cost around 6.3 million euros, the work on the school is almost finished, then we will move on to furnishing the classrooms which must be completed by the start of the school year. During the summer the building management service will also reorganize the secretariat in the existing spaces.
For mid-July 2025 the works, which began at the end of November, are expected to be completed demolition and reconstruction of the “Orsetto Pandi” nest of Christ the King. The new structure will welcome 60 children, 15 more than before. For the work, which falls within the Pnrr, approximately 3 million euros (the municipality’s 760 thousand euros are added to the ministerial contribution of 2 million and 244 thousand euros).
And not far away, always at Christ the Kingin the Aldo Schmid primary school the transformation work on the swimming pool has been completed, transformed into three new school spaces: a teachers’ room and a teaching room complete with new furnishings and an additional refectory space. The launch is expected during the summer arrangement of the garden part, north side towards via Lavisotto, which has been used as a construction site in recent years. It will also be the irrigation system was extended. The total cost of the work amounts to over 35 thousand euros, a figure referring only to the external arrangements to be carried out during the summer. For the transformation works of the internal spaces, including the supply of furnishings, approximately 338 thousand euros.
At the Pigarelli primary school an intervention is planned replacement of the windows and glass walls of the gym. The final award is currently in the process of being awarded and work is expected to begin in the last week of August. The main works are scheduled by the date of resumption of school activities. The work will complete the work carried out last summer, with the replacement of windows and glass walls throughout the school and the swimming pool, as well as the installation of motorized external sunshade-type darkening systems. The cost of the surgery amounts to little more of 80 thousand euros which are part of the 935 thousand euros for the overall renovation of the school. In the Bronzetti – Segantini middle school the construction work on the laboratories and library has been completed.
Various ordinary maintenances are planned in the schools (from painting to removals for the reorganization of spaces) as well as numerous extraordinary maintenances: at the Moggioli primary school (Trento 1 institute) the floors on the ground floor will be replaced, at the San Vito primary school (Trento 2) it is the replacement of the roofing has been planned, at the Argentario middle school (Trento 2) the renovation of the roofing of the laboratories of the Ronchi classroom is being planned and the renewal of the air exchange systems of the gym is planned, at the elementary school of Madonna Bianca (Trento 4) the secretariat spaces will be reorganized, which will be transferred to the Winkler middle school (Trento 4). Also at the Winkler middle school, a kitchen laboratory will be created and at the Bresadola middle school (Trento 5) the atrium will be reorganized with the creation of a social space. At the Schmid (Trento 6) the sewage sewage canalization of the sports area will be renewed, at the Sant’Anna elementary school (Trento 7) the facades will be reclad and the sheathing and flooring of the terraces will be renewed, at the Romagnano elementary school the bathroom will be renovated for disabled people.
As regards the nursery schools, cooling will be implemented in numerous buildings. The floors of the entire Ravina school building will also be renewed. On the nursery front, the renovation of a bathroom block in the Torrione is planned and the adaptation of the kitchen systems with the installation of new pasta cookers as well as cooling at the Clarina and Rodari summer nurseries.
Interventions are also planned during the summer non-school buildings: we range from the renovation of Meeting point in via Travai upon completion of the external arrangements of the “Community house” of Povo, from the redevelopment of lighting system of the Registry offices to extraordinary maintenance interventions of the mortuary rooms. Finally, the construction of cells in the cemeteries of Meano, Mattarello and Romagnano was planned.
