«The Foci di San Giovanni will be there even in case of rain». This was stated by Claudio Bini, president of the San Giovanni Battista Society, organizer of the fireworks event. «The company that manages the fireworks show assured me that the fuses are protected even in case of rain, so I have no reason to doubt the fires, which will be there in any case» added Bini, who nevertheless says he is confident given that «from 6pm onwards a clear improvement in the weather is expected which should guarantee a dry and rain-free show».
The concert of the state police on the Zecca embankment is more likely, given that, in case of rain, it will have to be cancelled.
On the occasion of the ‘Fires’ of San Giovanni, the prevention ordinance for public safety and security comes into force. From 6pm to 12pm on 24 June, within the perimeter delimited by barriers, in Lungarno della Zecca Vecchia, Piazza dei Cavalleggieri, Lungarno delle Grazie, Ponte alle Grazie, Lungarno Serristori, Piazza Demidoff, Piazza Giuseppe Poggi and Lungarno Cellini, the following will be prohibited: the sale for asporto of drinks in cans, bottles and in any other glass container by any commercial establishment; the administration of drinks in glass containers by public establishments; the introduction or possession, even for one’s own consumption, of drinks of any nature in cans, bottles or other glass containers; the possession of any kind of spray containing stinging substances; the possession of pyrotechnic devices and any other explosive material.
For public establishments and shops located in the areas affected by the sales ban, there is an obligation to clearly display the relevant warning sign.
