The counting of the balloting of the municipal elections in Florence has begun (THE SPECIAL – REAL TIME UPDATES). The challengers are Sara Funaro (centre-left) and Eike Schmidt (centre-right). The citizens of the Tuscan capital were called to the polls again, on Sunday 23 and Monday 24 June 2024, after no candidate managed to win the seat of mayor in the first round (ALL ADMINISTRATIVE RESULTS).

How it went in Florence in the first round

In the first round of the municipal elections in Florence, on 8 and 9 June, Sara Funaro of the centre-left obtained 43.17% of the votes, followed by Eike Dieter Schmidt of the centre-right with 32.86%. On the ballot paper, supporting Schmidt were Forza Italia, Fratelli d’Italia, the “Eike Schmidt Mayor” civic list, Lega and RiBella Firenze. For Funaro, however, Alleanza Verdi Sinistra, Azione, Sara Funaro Mayor, +Europa, Centro, Anima Firenze, Democratic Party. In the Tuscan regional capital, in the first round there were 10 mayoral candidates to succeed the outgoing mayor Dario Nardella. Stefania Saccardi stopped at 7.29%, Cecilia Del Re at 6.21%, Dmitrij Palagi at 5.45%, Lorenzo Masi at 3.35%, Francesca Marrazza at 0.55%, Alessandro De Giuli at 0, 48%, Francesco Zini at 0.4% and Andrea Asciuti at 0.22%.
