Successful participation for Transameria Day, the event organized by Slow Food Umbria yesterday morning in Montecastrilli. An initiative that brought together nature, good food and the discovery of the giant benches, positioned along the Big Bench Route. A large group of cycling and walking lovers took part in the route (which is eighty kilometers long in total for all 6 benches), in different ways. The mayor Riccardo Aquilini was also present at the departure from the Montecastrilli Exhibition Center, together with the deputy mayor Paola Fiordineve and the president of Slow Food Umbria Monica Petronio.
“Every bench installed in our hills – explained Mayor Aquilini – allows you to stop for a moment to admire the scenic beauty we enjoy, a unique place surrounded by greenery. Appointments like this are fundamental because they allow us to be in contact with nature, to highlight our peculiarities, to enhance the work of landscape architects, i.e. farmers, and to taste the typical products of our territory. The bench is not a monument, but a unique point of view.”
After leaving at 9am, around 12pm, the caravan returned to the Exhibition Centre, where a snack was organised. On the table are wines and products from local companies.
“Landscape, sustainable tourism and food production – explained president Monica Petronio – are the themes that Slow Food wants to unite, valorising those who work every day, with their company, to obtain products in full respect of nature. And when, as in this case, an entire community mobilizes together with us, we feel truly lucky: Carlo Catalucci and his wife Patrizia, splendid narrators of the landscape, the Asciutti, Folletti, Massinelli families with little Filippo, the president of the cooperative Surgente (Foresta Fossile, ed.), Massimo Manini, all the Slow Food volunteers in Terni, Todi and Amelia: everyone brought and shared their precious presence to experience a truly satisfying and evocative day.”
