The Carabinieri of the S. Pancrazio station have reported a 50-year-old Italian man living in Parma to freedom because he is believed to be the alleged perpetrator of an attempted theft which occurred in a shopping center in the city.

The facts date back to a few weeks ago when, following a report to 112 by the owner of one of the shops located in a shopping center in the city, the Carabinieri of the S. Pancrazio station intervened and arrested the alleged perpetrator of the theft of goods varies, taken from the store shelves.

The man, after having taken the goods and placed them in the trolley, instead of going to the checkout, slipped away and began to hide various food products under his jacket, thinking not to be seen. Having arranged the products, he approached the checkouts, entering the one commonly known as “no purchases” and passing the anti-shoplifting barriers. However, the man’s movements had been noticed by the security officer who in the meantime had alerted the Carabinieri.

Once the man passed the crates, he was first approached by security personnel and immediately stopped by the Carabinieri who, arriving within a few minutes, after having identified the man, recovered the stolen goods. The 50-year-old was accompanied to the barracks where, at the end of the investigations, without prejudice to the principle of innocence until a final sentence, he was reported to the Public Prosecutor’s Office because he was held responsible for attempted theft.
