TERAMO – The mountaineers’ adventure ended well today, all recovered by the Alpine Rescue. In fact, several roped parties had problems due to bad weather, all on the Corno Grande del Gran Sasso. In the morning we proceeded with the recovery of a hiker who was injured on the central peak of Corno Grande, recovered by helicopter and transported to the hospital in the Abruzzo capital. Then we proceeded to recover the companion of the first person recovered, who was stuck during the solo descent: recovery by helicopter was initially impossible due to the bad weather at high altitude. At that point, teams from the Abruzzo Alpine and Speleological Rescue and the SAGF intervened. In the meantime, due to a hailstorm that hit the Gran Sasso, a call had come from a team made up of two climbers on a mountaineering route on the Corno Grande. The Abruzzo Alpine and Speleological Rescue teams subsequently carried out the recovery. All the callers were recovered by the Abruzzo Alpine and Speleological Rescue and SAGF.
Let’s summarize the total number of people recovered today: there are 8.
– 1 injured on the central summit + teammate stuck on the descent
– 2 climbers on Via Alpinista Corno Grande
– 3 descent on the direct route, the Abruzzo Alpine and Speleological Rescue provided assistance to 4 foreign hikers, very young, ill-equipped and in difficulty, helping them to descend into the valley.
