Good indications from the young Italian duos busy over the weekend in Strzegom, Poland which will host the European Junior and Young Riders Eventing Championships from 22nd to 25th August.
A victory and many placings in the ‘top ten’ bear the signature of the Italians.
In the CCIJ2*-S (26 starters) reserved for juniors, there was a double with the victory of Sofia Pines and the second place of Leopoldo Petriniboth with the same dressage test score.
Riding Corgary Kansas, Sofia Pini won with 32.70 points while Leopoldo Petrini with Emerald Jonny took second place with 34.10 points.
They entered the ‘top ten’ Sarah Giulia Goldschlag fourth with Herzensbrecher 11 (36.70 points, with an error in the final show jumping test), Levante Girardiin fifth place with Walchiria del Tiglio (36.80 pn and a slight infringement for the time in the cross) and again Sofia Pines sixth with Mirage (39.00, same score as dressage). Also in the rankings Giorgia Ambrosetti seventh with Fernhill Frosty Tom (40.50 pn), Catherine Rumi eighth with Aureliana (40.70 pn) e Matilde Gianello ninth with Blarney Acacia (42.00 pn).
In the CCIY3*-S for young riders (12 starters) Eugenia Rumi on Cosmo La Riviera it placed second with a negative 44.10 points. An error in the final show jumping test deprived the young Italian rider of the victory, while Edoardo Fortiniplaced fourth with 57.90 pn riding Ballyartan Contessa.
Furthermore, in the ‘long’ CCI3* (20 starters), the young riders Martina Ambrosetti with Fernhill Trend Setter (67.90 pn) and Federica Vincenti with Bad Boy Z (70.40 pn) they ranked eighth and ninth, while the best of the blues was the ‘senior’ Anna Baraccafourth with Exclusief with negative 43.60 points.
Among the ponies, in the CCIP2*-S (26 starters) Caterina Giordano he finished in sixth place on Camelot Damgaard and the same dressage score (38.20 pt). Also among the top ten Giacomo Gardini with Milchem Mischief, who slipped to eighth place (41.70 PN) at the end of the final show jumping test after leading both the dressage and closed cross-country without any penalties.
Placements in the ‘top ten’ also for the Italian pairs competing in the other categories of the Strzegom Horse Trials. In the CCI2*-S (39 starters), the sergeant major of the Italian Army Emiliano Portale with General of the Italian Army he ranked ninth (34.20 pn), same position as Margherita Giovannoni with Shanbeg Surprise (35.60 pn) in the CCI1*-Intro (37 starters).
Finally, in Great Britain, in the Alnwick Ford International Horse Trails Paolo Torlonia with Zinny he ranked eleventh with 38.90 negative points in the CCI3*-S (58 starters),
