With a long message appearing on his personal Facebook profile, Lobito Fernandez excludes any type of rumor about his possible return to the Trieste shirt. His next destination could be Reyer Venezia, which with the probable exit of captain Andrea De Nicolao would leave a free Italian slot on coach Spahija’s board.
Below is Lobito Fernandez’s message:
Out of respect for all the Pallacanestro Trieste fans who continue to write to me asking me to return, I feel the duty to clarify that next year I will not play in Trieste.
When I decided to return to play, the perfect scenario would have been to pick up where I left off, also to be able to repay on the pitch all the affection that the city has continued to show me over the years.
Speaking with the company, however, it was clear that it is not currently part of the project’s future plans. A project which, given the recent promotion, is giving the results on the pitch (and also off) that this team and this city deserve, and of which I too am very proud
This is a decision that I respect and that in no way changes the love and gratitude I feel for the city and its people.
Now I’m motivated to close some details so I can finally focus on what my team will be next season.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. As I said some time ago, Trieste will always remain in my heart, regardless of the circumstances.
