The bad weather in the North and central regions, as expected (is yellow alert in Lombardy, Veneto, Trentino Alto Adige, Tuscany, Emilia-Romagna, Umbria, Marche and Abruzzo), is causing damage and problems. Between last night and this morning 45 people on boats were rescued on Lake Como due to bad weather, with gusts of wind reaching 30 knots, therefore over 50 kilometers per hour, which caused storm surges with waves more than one meter high. Of these, 36 were brought to safety by the two naval units of the coast guard while another nine were brought to safety by the firefighters, auxiliary coast guard and the Como air rescue boat. In several cases the boats were stranded on cliffs and among trees, in other cases the boats were damaged or unable to maneuver and therefore risked colliding with the rocky cliffs. The rescue operations for the 12 boats that had problems were coordinated by the Salò Coast Guard operations room, which has had this task since 15 June. And the coast guard itself invites boaters, before going out on a boat, to check the efficiency of the vessel, the fuel and the safety equipment. And also to check the weather and carry with you a phone with an internet connection, which allows the emergency services to precisely define the position of those asking for help.

Firefighters have been in action since night in the municipalities of Asiago and Gallio, in the province of Vicenza, due to the flooding of two streams due to heavy rains. There is no news of anyone injured. Over 60 calls have reached the 115 operations room, mainly due to flooding of streets, shops, basements, garages and rooms below street level.

Scary moments tonight in Valsugana in Trentino after the flooding of the Grigno torrent and several landslides. In the areas of Tezze and Belvedere, seven families were evacuated and taken to the Grigno fire station because the water released from the riverbed caused a landslide. The state road 50 ‘del Grappa’ was closed at km 52 due to landslides, isolating the Primiero which can now only be reached via the Brocon pass.
