Four iconic locations for Morosov’s sculptures

Sunday 23 June 2024 – 07:00

The project of the artist, Lucca by adoption, Alexey Morosovwhich develops in several chapters that deal with the evolution of man from his origins to his contemporary opportunity for self-determination, has a decidedly evocative title, Exodus.

The second of the three chapters that make up the artistic project – of which the first passage had Naples as the setting – has Pisa as a backdrop, in four fundamental places in the artistic and monumental history of the city, square of Miraclesthe churchyard and the interior of the church of Santa Maria della Spinaand the exterior of the fortress of the Guelph Tower and of Blue Palace.

From 22 June to 29 September you can enjoy viewing the sculptures positioned in the four iconic places of the city.

Alexey Morosov’s artistic works are linked to each other, forming a sequence that relates, from a narrative point of view, the most recent work to the previous one; Exodus is the second act of a trilogy that was inaugurated eight years ago at the national archaeological museum of Naples.

With Exodus the attention shifts from the merely historical factor to the role of art and poetry as a universal timeless element. The entire city becomes the expressive-narrative context in the attempt to grasp the deepest essence of the soul of our society. Art is perceived as an ever-present mission and the artist is the true hero of every era, the demigod of history.

“The era of the Upper Paleolithic, the Neolithic, the Enlightenment and our time, postmodern, are nothing more than parallel forms or layers of thought, simultaneous and interpenetrated with each other – explained the artist – in such perspective, the material heritage of the “battle-axe culture” is absolutely equivalent to that of our post-industrial era and the introduction of cyber-physical systems: these are all simultaneous possibilities, not different historical phases Of course, in my artistic narrative it dominates “form” as a guiding ontological concept”.

Exodus is a project by Alexey Morosov, directed by Gian Guido Grassi and organized by Municipality of Pisa and fromStart Attitude associationwith the collaboration of Blue Palace and the patronage of Province of Pisa.
