The coach is aiming for a strong defender, to bring in a left-footed winger and finally to place an attacker who will partner with Zapata
Friday afternoon finally extinguished any doubts. From the video that showed off the banks of the Po, to the actual arrival in Turin of Paolo Vanoli, new grenade coach. A wait that lasted months, well before former coach Ivan Juric’s team built any European hopes towards the end. Toro did not go to the Conference and turned the page hoping to be able to reach it with this new coach who has no experience in Serie A and who will therefore have to try to build a certain credibility at this level too. Even if his CV includes an ambitious experience like the one at Spartak Moscow, enriched by the conquest of the Russian Cup. Vanoli has now taken office and will begin to build the Toro in his image and likeness. What is certain is that there will be a lot to do on the market.
Defense: you need an arm

A left footed outsider
Another need is that of a outside of left foot. A big miss for Torino, who have not yet found a worthy successor to Cristian Ansaldi (who was ambidextrous). In the last season Juric adapted right-footed players to the left-footed outfield. Between Lazaro and Vojvoda, plus some incursions from Rodriguez (left-footed but moved forward when Juric preferred Masina as his arm), no one left their mark, especially when compared to the performance of only Bellanova on the opposite flank. There is talk of several players who would arrive in Serie A from foreign leagues (see Wijndal or Welington) or of old catchphrases like the usual Josh Doig, relegated this year with Sassuolo.
Who plays with Zapata?
Finally Vanoli will ask a tip, someone who can make an impact alongside Zapata. It is useless to remember the shortage of goals that characterized the season that had just reached the closing credits. It is no coincidence that the protagonists of the last year, except the Colombian, all have their bags packed. Via Sanabria, Pellegri, Okereke who will return to Cremonese. The first two have a market in Serie A and Toro will try to replace them with another Sassuolo player hoping to return to the Serie A ranks, namely Andrea Pinamonti. So far only guesses, or something more. The feeling is that we will know more about the new physiognomy of Vanoli’s Torino from the upcoming summer training camp.
