Castellammare – Failure of the water supply pipe, water service restored on the Sorrento Peninsula and Capri
«The country’s water network needs rapid modernization» the words of the CEO of Gori.
The water emergency that affected part of the municipalities of the Sorrento peninsula and the island of Capri is over.
Gradual restoration of service starting from 6.00 pm for all users on Capri and for the municipalities of Piano di Sorrento, Sant’Agnello, Sorrento and Massa Lubrense on the Sorrento peninsula. Full recovery of the water debt on the infrastructure is expected in the evening, which will allow the regular resumption of the provision of the service.
“This episode is further proof of the age of the country’s water network which requires rapid modernization. The doubling of the underwater pipeline that guarantees water to Capri by bringing it from Castellammare di Stabia was requested by Gori by presenting an appropriate project to the National Strategic Infrastructure Program of the Ministry of Transport to obtain the necessary funding. An 18 million euro project that aims to guarantee the safety and continuity of the water service.

Gori promptly activated all the necessary measures to resolve the problem and restore the regular supply of drinking water.
Furthermore, Gori will strengthen emergency management measures in the event of disruptions with particular reference to the Island of Capri.
