Meeting in Turin with journalists and civil society on the topic ‘Freedom of the press: how to defend it?’

‘Freedom of the press: how to defend it?’ is the title of a meeting, organized and promoted by La Via Maestra Comunità Torinese (CGIL), to discuss with journalists, information workers and civil society about one of the key rights of democracy and to discuss spaces of freedom and how these are increasingly narrowing, starting from conflicts of interest and up to the crux of public radio and television service.

The initiative – as reported on the Fnsi website – will also be attended by the Subalpina Press Association, the Order of Journalists of Piedmont, the regional club of Articolo21, Cdr Rai of Turin. The appointment is set for Tuesday 25 June 2024 from 6pm to 8pm in Turin (Magazzino sul Po in via Murazzi del Po Ferdinando Buscaglione, 18).

«Information is like the air we breathe: if it is clean we live long and well, if someone poisons it our survival is at risk. Polluted information alters the rules of the democratic game, in the workplace as in society. It reduces political and social viability, compressing our freedoms”, recalls the CGIL Torino in the invitation to the meeting published on its website.
