REGGIO EMILIA – Security, youth hardship and infiltration of organized crime into the economy: these are the themes at the center of the interview with the prefect Maria Rita Cocciufa aired during last night’s episode of Decoder. The prefect spoke, among other things, about the situation in the railway station area, where some political forces and committees are calling for the use of army units.

Knowing that enormous work is being done in that area of the city, not only of a repressive nature, but also of a social and health nature, due to the presence of people with addiction and psychiatric problems. “There are a few dozen people who don’t accept help.”
The prefecture continues to carry out a fundamental function on the anti-mafia front. After over 300 interdictions signed since 2010 by his predecessors, prefect Cocciufa has signed another 38 this year alone. “All the banned companies carry out certain businesses in an illicit manner, they do not act with the tools of healthy companies”. We ask the prefect: no embarrassment in signing, a few months ago, an interdiction for a consortium, Edilgest, led by a political exponent, the provincial secretary of the League Roberto Salati? “For me, citizens are all the same.”
The former senator in Modena Carlo Giovanardi is on trial on the accusation of having attempted to influence the prefecture and the police to have companies that had been excluded from it readmitted to the white list. Has the prefect ever suffered any attempts at conditioning? “No, I say it clearly”.
