FORLI’ – Four teams for one rosette. On the diamond of Forlì today, Saturday 22 June, will be assigned Italian A1 softball cup. To qualify for the Final four the records obtained in the first round of the championship were taken into account, considering only match 1, i.e. those dedicated to the Afi pitchers. Therefore, they qualified for the final phase Mkf Bollate, Inox Team Saronno, Italposa Forlì And Rheavendors Caronnothe four semi-finalist teams in last season’s championship.
The program will be opened by the semi-final between Mkf Bollate And Italposa Forlì, the two teams that boast the most tricolor ribbons in history (9 for Forlì, record, 4 for Bollate, tied with Legnano). This season Bollate has won all four direct clashes with the Romagna team, but the recent arrivals at Forlì of Alexia Lacatena, Virginia Mambelli And Laura Vigna, having finished the college season in the United States, will be able to give new life to the hosts. In light of the current season, Bollate (24-1 in the league) starts with the underdogs, but it certainly won’t be an easy commitment.
In the second semi-final the Varese derby will be staged between Inox Team Saronno And Rheavendors Caronno. Saronno comes from two consecutive titles in the Italian Cup, the last of which won in Casteldebole last September, and is looking for a hat-trick which only happened in this event in Forlì (2003-05) and Legnano (2006-08). The arrival of Christina Toniolo is an important reinforcement for the Nerazzurri team in the hunt for this objective, while it should be remembered that the Final Four of the Italian Cup will be the last diamond event for Fabrizia Marrone and the Teatro player will try to finish with a flourish. On the other hand, Caronno arrives at this event licking his wounds: the recent performance in the championship is not the best (seven consecutive defeats) and the Italian vice-champions have slipped to three games away from the playoff zone.
The two winners of the semi-finals will compete in the final which will start at 9pm.
