Music is a companion of summer, of lost loves, which has the ability to recall them, almost a sweet companion of melancholy, that of Victor Hugo: the joy of being sad. Fabio Picciocchi, known to all as Berlin ’84, puts in his new single, 100 more love songsmuch of that state of mind you feel when you recall a happy moment from the past.

And the recent past is also the musical substratum in which the singer-songwriter from Mugnano del Cardinale moves, transplanted to Avellino but born and raised in Basel. One who has a constant relationship with travel and travelers working for Trenitalia has embraced the battle in defense of pop. 100 more love songs is an indie pop ballad that well represents the unique style of Berlino ’84 to explore and share its musical roots, with a melody that blends the poetry of the text with modern harmonies and a distinctive sound, perfect for inaugurating the season of summer love.

“It’s one of the tracks from my album. It’s finally ready. We’ve filed all the new songs,” says Berlino. “It’ll be called Pop Resistanceto underline my intent to resist with my concept of music in a scene where rap is the master. The piece was produced by Daniele Franzese and is the first single that will be released with a new label, Bit & Sound music that I met at the beginning of the year during my experience at Casa Sanremo». In addition to Franzese, Alessandro Cecconi, producer of his first singles, will also remain at Picciocchi’s side: «Alessandro signed the piece with me and will continue to be at my side. He is like a brother to me». The Avellino communications agency Shout will also be at Berlino’s side to prepare the launch of the new album. In the meantime, the video clip of the last piece will be released next week: «It is set entirely in Avellino. There are some particularly successful shots near the Duomo. It is a further opportunity to underline my connection with the territory». And speaking of territory, Berlino has his following in the city. His last live at the Jungle Gin bar in Corso Vittorio Emanuele and his Italian covers have heated up the city living room: «We will repeat the experiment on Saturday 6 July. I’ll be waiting for you».

Picciocchi grew up listening to the great Italian singer-songwriters, attended the conservatory, and then completely immersed himself in the pop genre. The nickname was born from the fascination he experienced with Bowie’s Berlin period. In 2019 he met the producer Alessandro Cecconi; it is from this union that his first official single came to life: Sotto la pioggia. He also participated in Musicultura in 2020. Eight songs have already been published: “Sotto la pioggia”, “Milano – Avellino”, “Dimenticherò”, “Amore in quartiere”, “Magari affogo”, “Polvere”, and “Quanto fa schifo l’amore”, “Una ragazza fuma l’erba”. Some, if not all, could flow into the new album together with 6 additional unreleased songs. Love is the main theme but not only in an album whose common thread is music, from pop resistance. The manifesto song in this sense will be Venezia 136: “There is my whole concept of pop there”.

Villa Fiorito will also be there: «It is dedicated to Maradona, the native neighborhood, a love song with which I wanted to indirectly pay homage to one of my idols». “Avellino-Milano”, her second song, will find its sequel in “Come va a Milano?” «It is the most lively piece of the album. The continuation of this love story that then perhaps did not evolve in the best way. She went to study in Milan and the piece is written with the eyes of someone who remains here».
