While waiting for the notification of the proclamation to the elected officials, the outgoing president Vito Gancitano has convened the first session of the new municipal council, the one determined following the administrative elections of 8 and 9 June which led to the re-election as mayor of Salvatore Quinci. The inaugural session of the new municipal council will be held at 10 am on July 5th and will be chaired by the most voted municipal councilor, Francesco Foggia. These are the agenda items below:

1. Oath and validation of those elected. Installation of the City Council for the 2024/2029 administrative mandate; 2. Verify the absence of situations of incompatibility of the newly elected Councilors with the status of City Councilor; 3. Any subrogations and consequential obligations; 4. Election of the President of the City Council; 5. Election of the Vice President of the City Council; 6. Mayor’s oath

On the evening of June 19th the Central Electoral Office settled in section no. 1 completed the control and verification work relating to the administrative vote of 8 and 9 June and proceeded to proclaim the 24 municipal councilors of Mazara del Vallo elected. The proclamation was notified today to the Municipality and the individual elected municipal councilors will now be notified.

The distribution of seats was carried out among the lists that exceeded the threshold of 5% of valid votes necessary to access the municipal council and taking into account the attribution of the majority prize to the coalition of the reconfirmed Mayor Salvatore Quinci who in the first round of voting he was elected with 12,452 votes equal to 46.68%.

– Majority coalition in support of the reconfirmed Mayor Salvatore Quinci: 15 city councilors:

4 city councilors for the Salvatore Quinci Mayor List which obtained 2,674 list votes equal to 10.42%: Francesco Di Liberti (487 preferences); Paola Caltagirone (288 preferences); Valentina Grillo (261 votes); Germana Abbagnato (231 preferences). The latter has already been appointed councilor and will have to decide whether or not to maintain the dual role. First of the non-elected Salvatore Gianquinto (205 preferences).

3 city councilors for the Brothers of Italy list which obtained 2,257 list votes equal to 8.8%: Dario Scaletta (404 preferences); Francesco Giacalone (336 preferences); Giacomo Paolo Caruso known as Giampaolo (306 preferences). Before the non-elected Piera Alagna (292 preferences).

3 city councilors for the Political Observatory list which obtained 2,179 list votes equal to 8.49%: Francesca Maria Calcara (412 preferences); Massimo Giardina (301 preferences); Brigida Mineo (273 preferences). First of the non-elected is Isidonia Giacalone (257 preferences).

3 city councilors for the Political Participation list which obtained 1,941 list votes equal to 7.56%: Pietro Ferro (444 preferences); Gianfranco Casale (331 preferences); Paola Galuffo (274 preferences). Before the non-elected Arianna D’Alfio (260 preferences). Please remember that Gianfranco Casale has been appointed councilor and will have to decide whether or not to maintain the dual role.

2 city councilors for the Libertà list which obtained 1,519 list votes equal to 5.92%: Giovanni Iacono Fullone (423 preferences); Eleonora Arena (348 preferences). First of the non-elected Matteo Bommarito (270 preferences).

– Opposition coalition linked to mayoral candidate Ippolito: 5 city councilors

2 councilors for the DC – Christian Democracy list which obtained 2,996 votes equal to 11.67%, making it the most voted list: Aleandro Gilante (407 preferences); Antonio Russo known as Tony (360 preferences). First of the non-elected Pietro Quinci (312 preferences).

1 city councilor for the Forza Italia list which obtained 2,484 votes equal to 9.68%: Michele Reina (417 preferences). First of the non-elected Cesare Gilante (409 preferences).

1 municipal councilor for the Popular and Autonomist list/ La Forza dei Fatti which obtained 2,180 list votes equal to 8.5%: Francesco Foggia (939 preferences) he is the most voted candidate for the city council and will preside over the inaugural session of the city council. First of the non-elected Marianna Luisa Bonsignore known as Annalisa (518 preferences).

1 city councilor for the Più Vita list which obtained 1,298 list votes equal to 5.06%: Antonella Coronetta (269 preferences). First of the non-elected Gianfranco Vento (163 preferences).

– Opposition coalition linked to mayoral candidate Cristaldi: 3 city councilors

1 city councilor for the Futurists list which obtained 1,495 list votes equal to 5.83%: Giuseppe Bonanno (298 preferences). Before the non-elected Angela Messina (221 preferences).

1 municipal councilor for the Cristaldi Mayor list which obtained 1,640 list votes equal to 6.39%: Pietro Marino (537 preferences). Before the non-elected Enza Chirco (455 preferences).

1 city councilor for the Pride and Future list which obtained 1,456 list votes equal to 5.67%: Giorgio Randazzo (405 preferences). First of the non-elected Caterina Milagros Russo (196 preferences).

Furthermore, the mayoral candidate Vita Ippolito was proclaimed city councilor and – among the losing mayoral candidates – was the most voted with 8,347 votes equal to 31.28%.

There are two lists that did not pass the 5% threshold and which will not have any municipal councilor. The Nuova Energia Popolare/UDC list (in support of the candidate Ippolito) which obtained 686 list votes equal to 2.67% and the Democratic Movement list (in support of the candidate Cristaldi) which obtained 857 list votes equal to 3, 34%.
