With 5 billion and 619 million euros spent on durable goods in 2023, Tuscany ranks 6th among the twenty regions that have purchased the most, but the best data is the growth: +11 percent is worth the record in Italy, above the national average of +8.9 percent as revealed by the 30th edition of the Findomestic Observatory created in collaboration with Prometeia. At the provincial level, the most significant increase in consumption was recorded in Florence (+13 percent, 1 billion and 593 million euros). Pisa, Lucca, Pistoia and Prato also performed well, all provinces with variations equal to or greater than 11 percent. “The most dynamic sectors – comments Claudio Bardazzi, Head of the Findomestic Observatory – are those linked to mobility, with spending growing by 25.5 percent for new cars (1 billion 631 million) and 20 percent for used cars (1 billion and 368 million), higher than both the Italian average and the reference macro-area. Motor vehicles also increased by 23.50 percent (211 million euros), as did spending on household appliances (4.5 percent, 440 million). ) and mobile (1.4 percent for 1 billion and 245 million) both with higher variations than the national average. The other consumption items, however, are decreasing, after a period of growth as in the case of telephony (-2 .9 percent) or even worse was information technology (-4.7 percent) not to mention consumer electronics (-28.6 percent)”.

The level of income per inhabitant in Tuscany reached 24,147 euros, almost 1,370 euros more than the Italian figure. As regards the provinces, Florence (+7.2 percent) and Siena (+6 percent) fared better. With 27,073 euros per inhabitant, Florence will also be among the top ten in the ranking of disposable income on a national scale in 2023, ranking in 8th place and narrowly trailing the other Tuscan provinces. Spending per family, however, in Tuscany is second only to that of Trentino-Alto Adige: 3,363 euros. Among the provinces, the highest figure belongs to Pisa: with 3,491 euros it is first in the region and fifth in the ranking of the 107 Italian provinces. In general, Tuscany also leads the regional ranking in average expenditure growth per household: +11.2 percent.

STRONG GROWTH IN THE MOTORCYCLE SECTOR IN MASSA CARRARA: +26.8%. Massa Carrara is characterized, on an equal footing with Grosseto, by the most limited increase in overall spending on durable goods: +8.8% (278 million euros spent in 2023), a figure in any case in line with the national figure of 8 ,9%. Spending per family unit is 3,181 euros and the increase in 2022 of 9.5% is higher than that of Grosseto and Arezzo. Throughout the mobility sector, growth is close to 20%: +19.7% for new cars (80 million euros) and +19.5% for used ones (63 million euros). The greatest increase occurred in two-wheelers, for which the people of Carrara spent 13 million in 2023 (compared to 10 in the previous year) with a +26.8%, the third best growth in Tuscany. Among household goods there was a +2.9% in the consumption of household appliances (24 million euro market) and a minimal decline (-0.1%) in that of furniture (62 million). Compared to 2022, as detected by the Findomestic Observatory), fewer resources were spent on consumer electronics (8 million in 2023 vs. 11 in ’22, -28.1%), in information technology (8 million, -6% ) and in telephony (20 million at -3.5%).
