(ANSA) – ROME, JUNE 21 – “I am saddened, sorry, but also firmly motivated to support the new cultivation techniques which instead are opposed, with a criminal act, by ideological pockets resulting from the most sinister conservatism, which want to prevent our country to grow and evolve to have more resilient and quality crops for world markets. I am referring to what happened during the night in Lombardy, in the first experimental Tea rice field (assisted evolution techniques), which was completely destroyed by unknown persons. A cultivation technique made possible thanks to the law I signed, approved by Parliament some time ago.” Thus in a note Raffaele Nevi, national spokesperson for Forza Italia and head of the Agriculture department.
“I would like to remember that Teas, thanks to genetic improvement – they are not the old GMOs – allow us to obtain plants that are more resistant to diseases and more suitable to deal with the effects of climate change. Teas, to be even more explicit, allow less use of agrochemicals. I hope that what happened in Lombardy does not go unpunished. We must continue to work for agriculture in the name of science, research and experimentation”. (HANDLE).
