Jazz Marathon music festival: extraordinary event in the center of Rome

ROME- The heart of Rome will be the stage for an extraordinary musical event, a real one Jazz Marathonon the occasion of Music Festival 2024. Saturday 22 June, from 5pm until midnight, the evocative spaces of Palazzo Braschi and Palazzo Altemps thank you to the availability of their directors – Ilaria Miarelli Mariani and Stephane Verger respectively – will host a unique event, artistically directed by Paolo Damiani, designed and financed by the Municipality I of Rome and supported by a contribution from the Nicola Bulgari Foundation.

“This event will see artists from different backgrounds meet to make music together, respecting and listening to each other, with a deep desire to exchange experiences and ideas. Our territory needs events of this type, aimed above all at citizens, so that public spaces do not lose their main dimension of aggregating, through quality cultural events that can in some way be disruptive to an unaware and disrespectful use of the historic center”, says Giulia Ghia, Councilor for Culture of the Central Municipality.

The program includes a vast range of music that is not easily classifiable, all with great communicative capacity. Mixed sounds will mix harmoniously, creating a joyful and surprising mix that reflects the richness and diversity of the contemporary music scene. Many of the artists present will perform in their national premiere. The event represents a unique opportunity to enjoy extraordinary musical performances in a fascinating historical and artistic context. Those present will be able to immerse themselves in an evening of music, discovering new and engaging sounds. Each of them comes from some of the most prestigious music schools in Italy and will be directed by highly renowned teachers and musicians. The Jazz Marathon will start on Saturday at 5pm from the courtyard of Palazzo Altemps with the Saint Louis Coro Pop directed by Margherita Flore, followed by Mark Hatlak, accordion. At the end of these two concerts, in collaboration with the Scuola Popolare di Musica di Testaccio, the Strabanda directed by Alessandra Macaluso will accompany the audience from Palazzo Altemps to Palazzo Braschi, crossing Piazza Navona. From 6.00 pm to midnight, the Jazz Marathon will continue in the courtyard of Palazzo Braschi where the following will alternate: Ottava Inside Workshop.
