The exhibition Sebastião Salgado. Exodus humanity on the movemain event of Festival of Cultures 2024, at the city’s art museum, closes with 33,864 hitsbringing the annual total to 41,923 visitors, a 160% increase compared to the previous year. Ticket receipts also increased by 205%, far exceeding the 2023 results.
An important result considering that the exhibition remained open for just over two months. As he states Fabio SbaragliaCouncilor for Culture and Mosaics of the Municipality of Ravenna: “Exodus marked not only the resumption of a path that sees great photography as the protagonist of MAR’s programming but confirmed the strong ability of our museum to build broad, inclusive and transversal participation. And all this by playing an active and proactive role in the face of the great issues that mark our time.”
Looking forward to the next appointment Coconino Festnow in its third edition dedicated to author comics, which will be celebrated at MAR from 21st to 23rd Junethe concession for the management of the coffee bar of the museum to MC srl, a company that has long managed the Covered Market of Ravenna, following a negotiated procedure in which the proposals of a cultural nature presented by the participating companies were also evaluated. The MAR will therefore not be a traditional refreshment point but is proposed as a new creative meeting space capable of combining entertainment, gastronomy, cultural events and training initiatives, focusing on the quality of the products supplied, largely organic and locally sourced, and on the integration with the museum’s cultural programming, also in light of the imminent activation of a new project room, capable of hybridizing laboratory activities with exhibition initiatives. Finally, the project involves the setting up and use of the garden overlooking the basilica of Santa Maria in Porto. Latest news: the refreshment point will also be open in the evening hours.
Meanwhile, it will arrive in October autumn exhibitionwhich will bring attention back to the contemporary mosaic, celebrating the first hundred years of the mosaic school of the Academy of Fine Arts of Ravenna with the presence of works by artists of the caliber of Mario Sironi, Achille Funi, Lucio Fontana, Mimmo Paladino, Sandro Chia and many others.
