The municipal observatory for the removal of architectural barriers (OCABA) has a new accessibility promoter: Rosanna Nenna. Always actively involved in the political life of the city, elected to the municipal council of Trani within the “Green” party at just 18 years old (the youngest Italian woman to hold this position), already councilor for public greenery and member of various council commissions and ASL, in recent years she was founder and president of the “Pozzopiano” neighborhood committee, distinguishing herself for constant construction activity throughout the city territory as demonstrated by the historic result of the widening of the former “Pozzopiano” bottleneck.
With a combative and combative temperament, accustomed to not stopping in front of any obstacle or barrier, Rosanna Nenna promises to make her experience available to promote and improve the inclusion of people with different abilities in this new challenge. “I am very happy and proud of the nomination” she comments. “I warmly thank the mayor and the municipal administration for their esteem and trust in me. I can only say that I will do my best to protect and defend the rights of people with disabilities, improve accessibility in all places of the city and eliminate architectural barriers, including cultural ones, which are invisible and therefore more difficult to remove but equally harmful. I thank the outgoing promoter, Gennaro Palmieri, for all the work done in recent years. Among many things, I like to remember the great result obtained, together with the municipal administration, of the adoption of the PEBA (Plan for the Elimination of Architectural Barriers). I will start again from the projects already started and, above all, I will commit myself to the implementation of PEBA itself which, I remind you, was created with the aim of guaranteeing people with disabilities a high degree of accessibility and visitability of public buildings, as well as private ones of public interest and of public urban spaces of the environment in which they live. To achieve the objectives of the plan requires a great expenditure of positive energy. For this reason I appeal to everyone, qualified associations and individual citizens, stakeholders and otherwise, to actively participate in the life of this important institutional body”.
