Maxi seizure of dangerous products

Maxi seizure of dangerous products. They continue on the part of the Fiamme Gialle of the Economic-Financial Police Unit and of the Taranto Group, of the Manduria and Martina Franca Companies, as well as of the Castellaneta Tenenza interventions to combat the spread on the market of products potentially dangerous to public health.

The checks carried out by the financiers made it possible to identify and seize 36 commercial establishments of Taranto, Pulsano, Manduria, Sava, San Marzano di San Giuseppe, Maruggio, Avetrana, Lizzano, Fragagnano, Grottaglie, Palagianello, Laterza and Ginosa over 440,000 products, including housewares, costume jewellery, hardware, stationery, clothing accessories, perfumes and cosmetics, without the information required by the “Consumer Code”. This regulatory provision establishes, in fact, that products intended for the consumer, marketed on the national territory, must bear indications relating to the legal or product name of the product, the identity of the producer, the possible presence of substances capable of causing potential damage to the consumer as well as the materials used and processing methods.

At the end of the investigative investigations, the Fiamme Gialle reported to the competent authorities the owners of the 36 retailers affected by the checks. The investigations of the Ionian Financiers are now aimed at dismantling the logistical, organizational and structural chain of the supply chains, as well as at the recovery and taxation of the proceeds deriving from such illicit conduct.

“Countering the spread of products that do not comply with safety standards means contributing to ensuring effective consumer protection and a competitive market where honest economic operators can benefit from fair conditions of competition” reads a note from the Provincial Finance Command.
