Registrations are open for IV edition of the Haute Couture Course From the sign to the birth of a dreamthe training course of the Academy of the Teatro Regio of Parma directed by Lorena Marin with the aim of training costume designers and high-profile professionals for the fashion and creative industries.

Reserved for 14 students who have obtained a high school diploma or professional qualification, the course will take place at the Teatro Regio in Parma from 7 November 2024 to 19 January 2026.

There application for participation must be sent via email by September 29th 2024 at [email protected], according to the methods established by the regulation published on Teatroregioparma.it. The selections they will take place on 15 and 16 October 2024 at the Teatro Regio in Parma and will consist of an interview aimed at deepening the knowledge and possible experiences of the candidates. Candidates admitted to the Course will be notified via email by 18 October 2024.

During the 1500 hours in totaldivided into 1200 hours of lectures and laboratory activities And 300 hours of Project Workstudents will have the opportunity to learn and put into practice cutting and tailoring techniques for cinema, theatre, television and advertising, together with the best theatrical costume designers and fashion professionals capable of guaranteeing a close connection with the world of work and entertainment: in addition to the director, the theater costume designer Lorena Marin, they are part of the teaching teamamong others, Marina Bianchi, Simonetta Cesarini, Luca Dall’Alpi, Tommaso Lagattolla, Giuseppe Martini, Stefano Nicolao, Dario Quintavalle, Nadia Saccardi.

The course also includes some masterclasses held by costume designers of the operas of the Opera Season of the Teatro Regio and the Verdi Festival. Historical cutting, tailoring, moulage, dyeing techniques, costume and jewelery making, embroidery, millinery are just some of the subjects of the course, to which are added elements of history of costume, history of opera and ballet, history of theatre, sociology , contracts, lighting engineering, merchandise.

Final phase of the journey, the 300 hours of Project Work, to be held at institutions, festivals, national and European tailoring companies, will offer students the opportunity to put into practice the skills acquired during the lessons. There are already many partner organizations that have hosted students since the first edition of the Course: Fondazione Festival Pucciniano on the occasion of the Puccini Festival, Associazione Arena Sferisterio on the occasion of the Macerata Opera Festival, Fondazione Paolo Grassi on the occasion of the Festival della Valle D’Itria, Foundation Palio di Legnano – ETS on the occasion of the Palio, Teatro Lirico di Cagliari on the occasion of the preparation of the season, The Wexford Festival Trust on the occasion of the Wexford Festival Opera, Veneto Dance School, Atelier Pietro Longhi, Nicolao Atelier, Laboratorio Pieroni, Tirelli Costumi .

At the end of the training course, the two best students of the course will be offered paid internships at the Teatro Regio in Parma. Many students of past editions, at the end of the course, also had the opportunity to carry out work activities, as well as at the Teatro Regio di Parma, at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, the Teatro Comunale di Modena, the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Festival della Valle d’Itria, the Rossini Opera Festival, Aterballetto, the Atelier Nicolao of Venice and in various private companies in the fields of fashion, cinema and television.
