“Calabria, a diamond in the rough”. A wonderful region, but little appreciated

“Calabria. History, landscapes, 800 km of coastline from the Ionian Sea and the Tyrrhenian Sea which give it the shape of a peninsula jutting out into the Mediterranean, marine scenarios to which are added hilly and mountainous reliefs of poignant beauty, from Pollino to Sila and up to Aspromonte, a wealth of animal and botanical species, an extraordinary biodiversity: an immense tourist potential and, however, still to be exploited. Comparing this region to a rough diamond perhaps gives an idea of how much men and institutions, perhaps for too long, have kept this land on the margins of social and economic development”. This is the summary, perhaps, of the first forum organized in San Nicola Arcella, in the beautiful Palazzo dei Principi Lanza di Trabia on June 24th. The title is “Calabria a rough diamond. Environment, sea and tourism”. The event is organized by the “Clean Sea” association.

The purpose of the forum is to delve into the themes of tourism and environmental protection as a driving force for promoting the economic and social growth of Calabria, attracting investments, encouraging public and private institutions to cooperate to guarantee the necessary infrastructures and, finally, to add to the national game bag many more arrows to increase tourist flows and contribute to a greater extent to the success of our country in the world.
