Vibo Valentia – The Carabinieri of the ROS of Catanzaro and the provincial command of Vibo Valentia, with the support in the executive phase from the soldiers of the provincial Carabinieri commands of Reggio Calabria, Pescara, Chieti and Turin, have implemented a precautionary custody order issued by the district investigating judge, at the request of the Catanzaro DDA, against 14 suspects (13 in prison and one under house arrest), on the basis of the believed existence of serious clues regarding the crimes of armed mafia-type association, multiple murder, complicity external in mafia association and other serious crimes, aggravated by mafia methods and purposes, such as extortion, cultivation of narcotic substances, illicit competition, disturbed freedom of auctions, robbery, weapons crimes. The precautionary custody orders were issued by the District Magistrate of Catanzaro, Arianna Roccia, at the request of the deputy prosecutors of the DDA Annamaria Frustaci, Antonio De Bernardo and Andrea Buzzelli, with the coordination of the acting Public Prosecutor, Vincenzo Capomolla.
In particular, the investigation that led to the 14 arrests (there are 26 suspects in total) concerns illicit activities concentrated mainly in the Preserre Vibo area between the municipalities of Acquaro, Gerocarne, Soriano and Dasà. A series of searches and seizures of movable and immovable property are also underway. Further details will be communicated during a press conference that will take place this morning at the premises of the Catanzaro Public Prosecutor’s Office.
