PARMA – The 29-year-old foreigner believed to be the alleged perpetrator of an attempted murder following a robbery committed at the end of May 2024 in Bergamo had been wanted for a couple of weeks. A patrol of the Carabinieri of Parma Oltretorrente noticed him walking on foot in via Volturno at 1:00 a.m. At the sight of the service car, the 29-year-old fled in the direction of via Abbeveratoia, where after a brief but intense chase he was stopped.
Taken to the barracks and subjected to photo-signalling, he was found wanted for attempted murder and robbery committed last May in Bergamo, against a fellow countryman. At the end of the operations, the 29-year-old was taken to prison at the disposal of the Bergamo AG.
The 29-year-old, pressed by specific questions about his identity and possession of documents, answered in monosyllables, saying that he did not have any and added nothing about his personal details. At this point the patrol accompanied the 29-year-old to the barracks to proceed with the identification operations by means of photo identification and acquisition of fingerprints. The system, having analyzed the fingerprints, provided the identity of the man, a 29-year-old foreigner, with several police records and on whom there was a pending Order of Precautionary Detention in Prison for attempted murder and aggravated robbery issued by the G.P. (Preliminary Investigations Judge) of Bergamo.

The facts date back to the end of May when it is believed that the man arrested attempted to steal a backpack containing 50 euros, a pack of cigarettes and a few other objects of little value from a fellow countryman, presumably by repeatedly hitting him in the neck with a shard of bottle, which caused the unfortunate man to bleed profusely and put him at risk of death. Only the aid given to him by some bystanders prevented the tragic event.
Before the intervention of the police and rescuers, the attacker had left the scene and disappeared. Actively sought in the Bergamo area as the alleged perpetrator of the attempted murder and aggravated robbery, in his aimless wandering he reached Parma, where he was noticed in a suspicious attitude by the Carabinieri of the Parma Oltretorrente Station and arrested at the end of the investigations.
The 29-year-old, without prejudice to the principle of innocence until a final sentence, was in fact declared under arrest and associated with the Parma prison at the disposal of the competent AG.
