Wednesday morning ended with the approval of the law establishing Differentiated Autonomy, the flag measure of the League, a turbulent parliamentary week. The political conflict, however, remains very heated and promises to have consequences. Between majority and opposition, naturally, but also within the center-right itself.

The watchword throughout the majority is to hold the line. The center-right points the finger at “the contradictions of the left”, attacking above all Stefano Bonaccini, the president of the Democratic Party of Emilia-Romagna who had signed the pre-agreement on Autonomy. Nello Musumeci, former president of Sicily, now a minister, urges southern administrators to take “their responsibilities” thus: “The South must stop crying”. The secretary of FI, Antonio Tajani, instead tries to keep the two positions together: «The reform is right, the concerns of the South are legitimate, but they will be dispelled by the application of the agendas to guarantee the South presented by FI». But the most evident split is precisely territorial: if the presidents of Veneto and Lombardy are ready to start negotiations with the government for Autonomy, five Regions, mostly from the South (Campania in the front row), are preparing the appeal to the Consulta.
