REGGIO EMILIA – Let’s return to the case concerning Carlo, a two-year-old boy for whom the foster family of Reggio has requested the emotional continuity required by law with the new adoptive family. The couple contests a report presented in Court by the social services of Modena.

“We have been fostering for more than twenty years, always collaborating with the services and receiving thanks from the services themselves and from the biological parents”.
This family residing in Reggio until yesterday, asked for emergency or long-term foster care like that of Carlo, who remained with them for two years so as to establish a deep emotional relationship, today finds itself accused by the same social services of the Municipality of Modena . A report full of “unfounded accusations, allusions, inaccuracies”, according to the two foster parents, and which was at the center of a hearing at the Juvenile Court of Bologna on 12 June and in which their request for continuity had to be decided affectively with the child who is now in a new adoptive family.
“We are awaiting the minutes of the hearing on the 12th, in which the services participated to illustrate the report. Then we were received by the judge. He let us talk very little. Our request for special adoption evidently bothered the services”
She is 67 years old and he is 70, too many to fully adopt such a small child. This happens in a society where children are increasingly born later at 40 and beyond, age instead becomes an insurmountable problem for adoptions.
