(REGFLASH) Pescara, 20 June. “The delivery of the construction works of the cycle-pedestrian bridge over the Tronto river represents a fundamental step in unlocking the future of the Adriatic Cycle Route. An infrastructure that represents, at the same time, a fundamental tourist opportunity and a soft mobility resource for our coastal cities”.
These are the words of the Infrastructure Councilor, Umberto D’Annuntiis, on the occasion of the delivery to the successful company of the contract for the construction of the cycle-pedestrian bridge over the Tronto river. A work worth 3.5 million euros which will connect San Benedetto del Tronto and Martinsicuro and therefore Marche and Abruzzo.
The cycle-pedestrian bridge over the Tronto river is part of a particularly valuable naturalistic and landscape area. For this reason, starting from the location of the bridge, cutting-edge design solutions have been adopted which minimize the impact of the work on the surrounding environment and, at the same time, allow the work to be guaranteed architectural value. The bridge, in homage to the local seafaring, has a shell structure, as if it were the hull of a boat under construction.
For councilor Umberto D’Annuntiis “this is a day of celebration. Abruzzo has been waiting for this work for a long time and today we are also putting an end to controversies artfully mounted during the electoral campaign when we heard someone say that this bridge would never be built. Instead, the bridge will be built thanks to the commitment of the Marche Region and the Abruzzo Region.
With the construction of this bridge we will ensure that our 136 km of Adriatica Cycle Route can be connected with the Marche region in order to develop those forms of sustainable tourism that many people are turning towards today and which also represent an effective means of deseasonalisation”.
The bridge has four pillars and a total length of almost 130 meters to ensure hydraulic safety. The 4.6 meter wide pedestrian cycle path will make it a balcony from which you can admire the scenic beauty of the area.
Also present at the delivery was the mayor of Martinsicuro, Massimo Vagnoni, according to whom the actual delivery of the works represents the best response to those who still doubted the realization of a long-awaited work. The mayor himself wanted to thank both the Marche Region and the Abruzzo Region for having maintained the commitment made also with the city of Martinsicuro by making the necessary resources available and in particular the councilor Umberto D’Annuntiis for having always supported the project of construction of the cycle-pedestrian bridge that will eventually unite the two territories.
