FIGC, the elective assembly on November 4th: the next federal president will be appointed

In four more months, the Football Federation could change its president. With an official press release published on its website, the FIGC has announced that the elective assembly will take place in Rome on November 4th. This is the text: “The president of the FIGC Gabriele Gravina convened the Federal Elective Assembly on Monday 4 November 2024 (8.30 am in first call, 11 am in second call) at the Hilton Rome Airport Hotel in Fiumicino.

On the agenda: verification of powers; election of the President of the Assembly; election of the federal councillors of the components pursuant to art. 26, paragraph 4 of the Federal Statute; election of the federal president; election of the president of the Board of Auditors”.

Gravina’s words on the possibility of running again after Italy’s debacle in Germany.
“It’s premature, today there are no conditions to talk about it and I have not dwelt on this aspect. It is a very demanding path. I answer to the delegates, to the world of football, I am not a sole administrator, there are seven components in the world of football and I believe it is right that there is an open discussion and the possibility of verifying with them whether this path should be continued or interrupted. But now we need to remove some of the waste due from this moment”.

What will actually change after this negative result?
“Yesterday we have already started this process, we have started a comparison with the identification of some errors. The immediate response is to implement a whole series of actions to remedy some errors. The first thing I will do is identify 5-6 highly experienced figures who work in Serie A clubs to build a summary in the Italian club to open a discussion table relating to the valorization of young people. We can no longer make the mistakes made over a long period… We can no longer rest on a less harsh political comparison, instead it must be so harsh as to generate effects”.
