Lamezia, tall grass and neglect in various areas of the city: citizens worried about the risk of fires

Lamezia Terme – The first real heat wave arrives and, with it, reports of tall grass in various areas of the city. Sections of pavement that are impassable, flowerbeds and green areas invaded by weeds that make the areas look like bushes. This is the situation that occurs in various peripheral streets but also in central and busy areas. Some residents report and complain about the degradation and neglect. In particular, in light of the latest fire that apparently started from some brushwood, a citizen highlights “after having suffered the consequences of yet another fire, we await the next devastating fire in the bush on Via dei Bizantini close to the Capizzaglie sports field now abandoned by years in the Donna Mazza district where, after umpteen reports, no one takes action”. Areas left in neglect which sometimes also hide waste of various kinds and insects, also creating problems from a hygienic point of view and which worry citizens. Not only. The tall grass could also create traffic problems, in fact, in some sections, visibility is limited.

Also photographing the unfortunate situation was a resident of a central area of the city which shows impassable pavements where even for those coming from outside, parking and getting out of the car turns into a sad adventure. “The weeds get into the car – highlights the citizen – they stick to the legs, to the trousers… in addition to these areas covered with weeds they represent a receptacle for rubbish, a meeting place for animals and a fire danger”. Furthermore, some residents of the center report how some manholes in the street “emit the smell of sewerage. The Mayor must intervene on the degradation that exists in the city”, he concludes by appealing to the municipal administration in view of the summer.
