Aversa (Caserta) – The next day the damage, especially the environmental damage, of the fire that broke out on the afternoon of June 19th in the “Rascato” thermo-hydraulics depot located in Viale Europa, in Aversa, was assessed. A dense blanket of black smoke, also visible from the city of Naples, invaded the entire surrounding area, creating many inconveniences to the resident population, in particular due to the acrid smell of burning plastic that lasted until the morning throughout the city and neighboring communities .

To tame and contain the flames, which also affected two apartments in the immediate vicinity of the warehouse and several cars, the firefighters worked with six teams and tankers from all over Campania. No injuries were reported.

As reported by the company that owns the warehouse, the fire originated from adjacent land where there were containers. “Our cameras – reported by ‘Ras.E.srl’ – confirmed the origin of the fire. When we realized what was happening, all of us, including the workers, while waiting for the firefighters, put our lives at risk to limit the fire, not because of the economic damage but to protect our health. public. Obviously, since ours is a thermo-hydraulic sector, the flammable material caused what you all know by now.” The company, through its lawyers, filed a complaint against unknown persons and accused: “Our damage was truly enormous, and we are sorry that the keyboard lions accused us of being the architects of this disaster.”

Following the fire, Arpa Campania installed a high-volume sampler near the site of the fire to search for dioxins and furans possibly dispersed in the atmosphere. Monitoring of air quality also continues through the regional monitoring network with Arpac’s fixed stations. The results will be released as soon as they are available.

Already last year, in February 2023, a similar fire occurred inside the same warehouse (read here), although smaller in size as it was contained in a short time by the firefighters. As well as another fire that occurred ten years earlier. VIDEO ABOVE
