On the sidelines of the event held yesterday at Palazzo Tursi, Nicolò Sancinitolateral of Genoa Under 18told our microphones about the Scudetto victory: “The emotion was great and above all it was the culmination of a journey that began six years ago when they took me from Ceriale. Getting to win the Scudetto after a very difficult year, the playoffs, the semi-final with the top teams in the table and the final with Roma who have won the Scudetto for two years. I looked like a kid on the playground, I didn’t know how to cheer“.
You’ve been at Genoa for six years and so have many others: it’s a victory for the group…
“It’s wonderful, there is a nucleus that has been there for at least six or seven years, some for ten like Fazio, Ghinassi, Andrés or the boarders who have been here for years. The group is wonderful, then with a staff like that we could only reach this goal. What gave us extra strength after a difficult start? In my opinion the strength of the group, then we have some individuality with five or six guys who in my opinion are at another level than ours. In fact, then people came up in the Spring, spending more than half the year there, I’m thinking of Ekhator, Venturino or people who will go there. The first three defeats helped us because we thought we were strong but we understood that to win we needed something else, it wasn’t enough to be strong but we had to do something more.”
A special dedication for this Scudetto?
“To Matteo Lardo, who has been taking me back and forth to Albenga for a year, lives five hundred meters from me. To him and Mazzieri who gave me a hand. My parents and I have to thank them because they gave me a hand. I want to make the other special dedication to Gervasi who was coach of Genoa and trained me when I was a child in Ceriale together with Maurizio Bigi from grassroots activity“.
