FRATTA POLESINE (Rovigo) – Two thousand and three hundred visitors in the first 9 days of opening: the interest catalyzed by the reopening, last 8 June, of the Giacomo Matteotti House Museum in Fratta Polesine. The average number of visitors in previous years was around three thousand per year.

The new multimedia installation, entrusted by the Cassa di Risparmio di Padova e Rovigo Foundation to the architect’s team Luca Molinari, has multiplied the number of visitors, who appreciate the “taste of home” with which they are welcomed on the ground floor and first floor and the room on the second floor which, after the story of family life and the Polesine area, immerses the visitor in the tragedy of the last days of the martyr’s life, from the famous speech-denunciation in Parliament on 30 May 1924 to the return of his remains to Fratta. A journey made of images, voices, testimonies, emotions, which allows you to know, relive and delve deeper into both the politician and the man Matteotti.

The satisfaction for this first excellent feedback is shared by the Cassa di Risparmio di Padova e Rovigo Foundation, which supported almost the entire project, in agreement with the Municipality of Fratta Polesine and the Accademia dei Concordi di Rovigo, owner of the building.

In recent weeks the Foundation, with the Provincial Committee for Celebrations, is proposing the exhibition “Giacomo Matteotti. A story of everyone”, edited by Stefano Caretti. This exhibition is also highly visited (already more than 13 thousand entries) and much appreciated.

“In these first days of opening to the public – says the director Maria Lodovica Mutterle – the House Museum welcomed as many visitors as possible. As always, entry is regulated for safety reasons, but also out of respect for the place and to guarantee the best possible visit. We want everyone to be able to visit the House Museum without any rush or pressure. We recommend booking for groups and, if they are interested, a guided tour. We are pleased to see how visitors always leave the House satisfied and often even moved.”

Starting from the conservative restoration and the museum project carried out between 2006 and 2009 by the Massarente Architettura studio, the new layout and the new story of Matteotti’s story in his House Museum were entrusted to the 120gramma architecture studio, while the rethinking and the updating of the narrative path is by Luca Molinari Studio, a team led by prof. Luca Molinari, with the historical supervision of prof. Gianpaolo Romanato, president of the Scientific Committee of the House Museum, in collaboration with the “Filippo Turati” Historical Studies Foundation.
