After almost three years of suspension of activity and occasional appearances, first due to the pandemic, then due to the renovation works of the Cagnoni Theatre, the City of Vigevano Symphony Orchestra (OSV) returns today to offer great music to the Vigevano public . For more than 10 years the OSV has become the musical “voice” of the city, making the most symbolic places of Vigevano resonate, from the Sforzesco Castle to the Cagnoni Theater, from the S. Dionigi Auditorium to the Duomo. The most important occasions have always seen the OSV as the protagonist in its numerous formations, which range from the baroque repertoire to the late romantic symphonic one, from sacred music to opera. Soloists of international caliber have played and continue to perform with the city’s orchestra, often returning to our theater and witnessing a high-quality and enthusiastic working environment.

The orchestra has always collaborated with municipal institutions and its name, thanks to a resolution of the Municipality of Vigevano, recalls how it was originally born from the will of some musicians of the city, to then expand to instrumentalists of all origins and grow from from a qualitative point of view, to the point of becoming a completely professional team composed of musicians from numerous high-level musical realities, while always maintaining a close link with the city and paying great attention to young people and their inclusion in musical activity. Since its birth, the OSV has been coordinated by the Gabriel Fauré Cultural Association, which takes care of its artistic activity and manages its administrative part.
