A large fire broke out today in the municipalities of Giugliano in Campania and Aversa, straddling the provinces of Naples and Caserta. A huge column of thick black smoke rose into the sky, visible even from several kilometers away, even from Naples. Building material warehouse on fire

According to initial information, the flames broke out in a building material warehouse in Aversa, in the province of Caserta, in viale Europa, generating a dense black cloud that is invading houses and streets, making the air unbreathable. Six fire brigade teams are at work on site. The air became unbreathable in a few minutes. The inhabitants of the area barricaded themselves in their homes, despite the suffocating heat of the day, closing doors and windows. The area was cordoned off by local police and law enforcement to facilitate firefighting operations.

Two houses were also involved

The fire broke out around midday inside a warehouse of a building materials company in Viale Europa in the municipality of Aversa. To put out the fire and limit the flames that affected it also two apartments in the immediate vicinity of the depot, six teams are working: two from the Command headquarters, one from the Aversa detachment, one from the Marcianise detachment and three from the Benevento, Naples and Avellino commands.

Three tankers from the Caserta command and a tanker from the Benevento command, a ladder truck from the Avellino command, a car protector and also an airport vehicle from the Salerno command also intervened in support. The provincial commander, engineer Paolo Massimi, also arrived on site to coordinate the firefighting operations. Investigations are also underway to establish the causes of the fire by the Judicial Police Command unit.
