Rome, 19 June. (askanews) – The 16th edition of the Voghera Country Festival, the reference event for the Italian and international country world, kicks off from 21 to 23 June. A mix of dance and country music that combines the pleasure of listening to internationally renowned North American artists with the fun of dancing the typical line dance group dance, expressed in traditional and Catalan styles and without forgetting couple, two step and west coast dances on everyone. A journey into US traditions without however straying far from the Oltrepò Pavese countryside, an experience that attracts enthusiasts from all over Europe and the simply curious who are approaching this or the world of the old west.
This year’s super guest will be Canadian country music star Dan Davidson. Originally from Alberta, Davidson has attracted the attention of the public and critics in recent years. He has 7 CCMA nominations to his credit, 10 ACMA awards, a platinum record, multiple placements in international charts and hundreds of live performances around the world. On the stage of the Voghera Country Festival he will perform with his band, offering the best hits from his discography, including the latest single “Wo n’t Forget”.
More live music with the Bon Jovi tribute band, Bad Medicine, who will bring the best of the US band’s successes to the PalaTexas stage, including hard rock, pop rock and engaging western atmospheres. In Saloon, the concerts of Alberto Aperi, a one man band who with guitar, voice and rhythm will perform, among others, songs by Johnny Cash, Doc Watson and Willie Nelson. The Castrol Brothers quintet will propose a country repertoire with a modern approach, which combines tradition with new sounds. In their repertoire, songs by Jon Pardi, Luke Combs, Morgan Wallen and many others.
Among the competitions, the Dance Show, a free dance competition where dozens of dancers from various schools from all over Italy participate; the Dance Off, an event for individual dancers where participants try their hand at three different choreographies. And then, The Big One, a sort of flash mob based on country dance, where the public is invited to participate in a surprise collective group dance. The Turkey Hat Dance Trophy, a team competition dedicated to the traditional style, while the El Gat Catalan Cup is the competition dedicated to the Catalan style in collaboration with El Gat Amb Botes of Barcelona. We continue with the Blacksnakes Wrap Style Contest where teams who love the Wrap style compete. Lastly, the Team Over 100 is a particular challenge where only dance schools with at least 100 dancers competing at the same time participate.
