The opposition council groups were absent from the conference of group leaders of the Tuscany Regional Council, convened in the presence of the President of the Region Eugenio Giani and the regional councilor for civil protection Monia Monni, to illustrate the correct methods that citizens and businesses affected by the flood will have to use to report the expenses incurred and, finally, have access to the reimbursements provided for by national provisions.
From 1 July it will in fact be possible for private individuals and businesses damaged by the flood of November 2023 to apply for reimbursement of expenses incurred in managing the emergency, up to 5 thousand euros for families and up to 20 thousand for companies. The requests must be sent via a reporting procedure which can be accessed from the website https://www.regione.toscana.it/alluvione2023. The purpose of the meeting called was precisely to spread the correct information as much as possible, also through the regional councilors who represent the territory.
“We wanted to make information for citizens and support for flood victims a team activity, regardless of party affiliation – explains President Giani – but not all groups showed up, indeed the opposition didn’t show up. We thank those who were present, but we are sorry that there was a lack of interest on the part of some groups in real support for the flood victims”.
Giani also added that during the conference of group leaders the report was illustrated which photographs the current state of the aid situation for flood victims, especially the results of the regional law, which while waiting for state resources allowed the transfer to flooded families of approximately 20 million and 700 thousand euros, and the initial support activity for businesses.
