ROME (ITALPRESS) – “The drama of the fires that afflicts our territory affects Sicily even more, where rainfall is scarce and temperatures are higher on average. The losses already suffered by the island in recent years in terms of deforestation are huge amounts, which is why today, at the Mase headquarters, we addressed the delicate issue with the councilor for the territory and environment of the Sicilian Region, Elena Pagana, the leaders of Federparchi Sicilia, some officers of the Forestry, Environmental and Agri-Food Unit Command and of the State Forestry Corps of the Sicilian Region.
The meeting was useful for taking stock of the situation necessary to understand which strategies to undertake in order to intervene in the best way to protect biodiversity. Without prejudice to the fact that the ownership of the fire-fighting action is entrusted to the relevant bodies and to the Sicilian Region, I welcome the results of today’s meeting which are part of a prevention work already started by the councilor”.
