Differentiated autonomy, Forza Italia Lamezia coordinator: ‘Not voting for the law is a courageous choice’

Lamezia Terme – “The debate on differentiated autonomy has given rise to considerable concerns and divisions within Parliament and in the country. This topic, of fundamental importance for the future institutional and social structure of Italy, deserves in-depth reflection and discussion inclusive. I think like President Occhiuto. It is a mistake of the center-right, which is why FI Calabrese did not vote for the bill. What was ratified represents a climate that has shown a divisive rule in Parliament and in the country” is what we read in a note Salvatore De Biase FI Lamezia Coordinator.

“This rule – he explains – needed to be further explored, and for this reason I fully understand the reasons of the Calabrian deputies of Forza Italia. I appreciate their determination and I recognize the value shown by the Hon. Francesco Cannizzaro, Giuseppe Mangialavori and Giovanni Arruzzolo in deciding not to vote this law. It was a courageous and acceptable choice. We remember that once upon a time there was even discussion of abolishing the regions, and today instead individual regions are given the possibility of asking the State for the direct management of as many as 23 subjects and 500 functions that: regional school programs will be managed by councilors; national healthcare will be replaced by regional one: we will have regional teachers and doctors; salaries will be defined at regional level; competitions outside the region will be abolished; ; rights will no longer be equal for everyone.

“The implications of such a differentiated autonomy – he continues – are profound and complex. The risk of further fragmenting our social and institutional fabric is concrete. It is essential that any reform is conceived with an inclusive perspective, which aims to strengthen the national unity and to guarantee equal opportunities for all citizens, regardless of the region in which they live. In this context, we reiterate our position: differentiated autonomy, as proposed, does not meet the interests of the community more united and cohesive, where the reforms are the result of broad consensus and in-depth discussion. I extend sincere thanks to all those who, with a sense of responsibility and a critical spirit, have opposed this law better future for all, without divisions and inequalities”.
