TREVISO – Roberto Ghizzo, founder and director of Radio Veneto Uno, has decided to criminally report the coordinator of the Office for the support service of radio and television companies of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers. Since 2017, Radio Veneto Uno has no longer received contributions for publishing, which are fundamental for the production of information and culture and for guaranteeing jobs. Ghizzo disputes the interpretation of the law that blocked this source of financing.
The complaint – Ghizzo accuses the coordinator of abuse of office, claiming that since last year he has been prevented from accessing the documents necessary to understand the reason for the blocking of contributions, amounting to 300-350 thousand euros per year. From 2017 to today, considering interest, the figure exceeds 2.5 million euros. Despite the reduction in staff, Radio Veneto Uno continued to broadcast. Ghizzo managed the station through difficulties and crises, maintaining the goal of bringing the radio to its 50th anniversary in 2025.
The litigation – For years, Ghizzo attempted to resolve the issue with PEC and warnings, but without success. Now, with the lawyer Alessandro Canal, he has filed a complaint with the Treviso Prosecutor’s Office. Ghizzo wants to clarify why the cut in contributions has never had a convincing justification. Previously, the block was motivated by the mistaken belief that Radio Veneto Uno was a party organ. Then, it was thought that the request for contributions was based on law 230 of 1990, relating to national broadcasters, but Ghizzo claims he has never broadcast nationally.
The statements – “We try to get what we deserve by law, not by opinion, it is a duty to honor those who have worked with us. Now I’m in trouble, I have no problem admitting it,” said Ghizzo. Lawyer Canal adds: “We have reported serious shortcomings on the part of public officials who did not do their job. Grants were denied because they applied the wrong criteria. They are using the opinion of a permanent commission of the Senate which however refers to another article, not the one that interests Radio Veneto Uno. They are destroying a local business reality for interests that are certainly not ours.”
