“We were among the last to apply the law” –

The Extraordinary Commissioner of the Iacp of Ragusa Paolo Santoro, as we had hypothesized, explains the decision to raise himself and increase the salary of the administrative and control bodies.

In fact, the news had aroused some criticism, especially because when it comes to public housing the situation is always delicate. But obviously we need to distinguish things. In fact, it is the law that provides for the new determination of compensation, and the funds that the organization has available to deal with the ordinary and extraordinary maintenance of the properties are very different.

Having said this, Commissioner Santoro specifies that “the Iacp of Ragusa was among the last to adopt this requirement. We have among other things established- continues Santoro- not to use the maximum compensation of €40,000 and to have this increase take effect from June 1st and not from January 1st as required by law. I would also like to underline that despite my role as Commissioner I am always present every day and try to solve the numerous problems that arise”

And speaking of problems, in this period certainly the most delicate to face is that which concerns Pozzallo. As we wrote in our article (read here) the times are further extended given that the technician appointed by the IACP has requested further investigations.

The Commissioner explains to us that an initial inspection has been carried out and that at least another five weeks will be needed. This means a considerable waste of time and money.

“We will ask the Region for help in dealing with these additional expenses” And it is here that, as we were saying, the paradox occurs, which certainly does not depend on Commissioner Santoro, the law provides for an increase in salaries but not in the financing necessary to face the numerous expenses that the body needs for ordinary maintenance and especially extraordinary.
