The long back and forth is over, Toro finally has its new coach too. Paolo Vanoli will pick up the legacy left after three years with Ivan Juric, the long-awaited white smoke has arrived. The last step will be official communications, but no more surprises are expected now. President Urbano Cairo managed to extract the “yes” from Venezia, even if the negotiations were exhausting, almost unnerving. And, in the end, he also obtained a discount from the lagoon club: the clause to release the coach was worth one million euros, just as provided for in the contract and the apostille in the event of promotion to Serie A, but the Alessandria publisher has closed at 800 thousand euros. It was convenient for everyone to find an agreement, even Venice itself which had already blocked Eusebio Di Francesco, and so it was. It took a good two weeks, with the orange-green team having obtained promotion on 3 June, but in the end here was the white smoke.
Vanoli’s signatures are expected today on the contract that will tie him to the via Viotti club for the next two seasons at figures that are decidedly lower than the two million that Juric received. Thus Toro enters a new era, with the objective that does not change: they will once again attempt an assault on Europe, even if the environment is still disappointed at having failed to enter the cups in the last season. And now the market can also definitively get to the heart of things, even if there is the risk of losing the most valuable pieces: Buongiorno is strongly courted by Napoli, Bellanova is liked by Napoli, Ricci is always in Lazio’s sights. “Cairo has to choose: if you sell the best you have to be good at buying good players to rebuild, but if you want to keep them you have to go out of your way and bring in other players to raise the level” said Juric before taking his leave. Now it will be up to Vanoli to look for the best strategy together with the president and director Vagnati to make Toro grow.
